Climbing much branched herb, sub-shrub, branched up to 2 m with fasciculated tuberous roots. Stem woody. gryish -white, branches striate-ridged. Cladodes in fascicles of 3-6 (up to 8), linear, 0.9-2.5 cm × 0.5- 1 mm, flat. Leaf spur spinescent; spine sharp-pointed, straight -slightly curved,1.5-2 cm on main stems, 0.4-1 cm on branches. Flowers small,white,fragrant,in axillary racemes-panicles, bisexual; bracts 1mm,ovate, pedicel slender 2-4 mm, obovate tepals, white and glabrous; 6 stamens, filaments-2 mm long, white colored and anther dark yellow- brown colored;style short up to 0.5 mm, 3 stigmas, ovary subglobose, Fruit: berry , globose, 0.4- 0.6 cm diameter.

Asparagus racemosus is a powerful herb for women candidates, it is used in various forms and combinations by local healers and as a folk medicine.
1) Root powder is supposed to increase the milk secretion in nursing mothers.
